“MUSE”
The critical study of mythological subjects in classical oil painting is one of my creation
motifs, which restores the
neglected female experience by exposing the objectification of females as Muses
and their oppressed survival space. Women's experiences as narrative subjects
challenge the male-centric narrative in classical painting.

150 x 150 x 400 cm
Acrylic, canvas, wool, iron, plastic
Witch-hunt, an expanding painting, exposes and critiques voyeurism in Marcel Duchamp's Etánt ccés by recoding the female body. Visual metaphors are created using a prison-like structure that can accommodate an audience. Sexuality, oppression, witch-hunt and Mirena are symbolized by the genitals, the gloves, burned edge and ropes.
The work was supported by the 2022 Lucky Dip Bursary initiated by 'A Space' Art, and the outcome of the work is exhibited at God's House Tower, Southampton.
